If your clock runs too fast or slow, does not run at all, weights refuse to fall, chimes out of sequence, or you just want to give it a facelift, I can help. My services include the following: Fred Warren
  • Movement restoration
  • Case cleaning
  • Case repair and refinishing
  • Routine maintenance
  • Dial replacement
  • Battery movement replacement
  • Battery movement conversions

Most of the clocks I restore are of early-American, German, or French manufacture. However, I’ll evaluate and repair just about any type of clock. I’ve had a wide variety of different types of clocks come through my shop, and I can work on just about any clock. I repair and restore:
  • Grandfather clocks
  • Wall and mantel clocks
  • Anniversary clocks
  • Cuckoo clocks
  • Antique clocks

I provide a 1-year guarantee on all movement overhauls, and a 2-year guarantee on all movement replacements.

How I Work

The first step in the repair process is for me to see the clock. I look at the age of the clock and at the movement itself. I check carefully for obvious wear and broken parts. I don’t take short-cuts with repairs; if there is one particular area that is worn, I also check all of the clock’s works to ensure that the entire clock will be restored to proper working condition. Before I commence the actual work, I contact the customer to explain the nature and cost of the repair and to get their approval. If the customer elects not to proceed with the work, they pick up their clock with no charge for the estimate.
